W.W. Clyde & Co.’s President Receives Prestigious Boy Scouts of America Honor1/28/2009Paul Clyde first in local BSA Council to receive this award SPRINGVILLE, Utah – The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Utah National Parks Council honored Paul B. Clyde, president of heavy civil construction firm W.W. Clyde & Co., with the “Distinguished Scouter” award at a luncheon Tuesday at Thanksgiving Point. This award recognizes Clyde for his efforts and contributions over the years in supporting both the community and the scouting program. Clyde is the first person in the Utah National Parks Council to receive this award.Clyde, a Cedar Hills resident, has been an avid supporter and leader in Boy Scouts most of his adult life, serving in many capacities, including district chairman, scout master and institutional representative, among others. At the council level, Clyde is a previous council president and vice president of finance. He is a past recipient of the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, which recognizes individuals for their hard work, dedication and many years of service. He currently serves on both the council’s budget and nominations committees. The “Distinguished Scouter” award is selected on a council level, and councils throughout the country recognize an individual each year whose support and dedication have been instrumental in the scouting program. This is the first year that the Utah National Parks Council, which is one of five councils in Utah, has given this award. The keynote speaker at Tuesday’s luncheon was Utah’s Commissioner of Higher Education, William Sederburg.
