W.W. Clyde & Co. Announces Plans to Hire Local Workers for Idaho Project11/2/2009TWIN FALLS, Idaho—W.W. Clyde & Co. will hire a majority of the craft workforce it needs from Twin Falls and the surrounding area to complete the Twin Falls Alternate Route project, the company announces today. W.W. Clyde & Co. understands the importance of this project to Idaho and has pledged to staff the project primarily with Idaho residents and to purchase supplies and other materials from Idaho-based vendors, wherever possible. To date, W.W. Clyde & Co. has secured contracts with 16 Idaho-based firms as subcontractors or suppliers for the project.
It is projected that more than 90 percent of the work will be completed by a local workforce, with less than 10 percent from the company’s Springville, Utah office.
“We understand the nature of stimulus funding and want to reassure Idaho residents much of the money from this project will go right back into the state’s economy,” said Jeffrey R. Clyde, vice president, W.W. Clyde & Co. “We will accomplish this through hiring employees locally, seeking materials and other supplies from local companies, and also through money spent at other retailers—when our employees fill up their gas tank at the station down the street or purchase lunch at a local sandwich shop. The trickle down of the funds will benefit many audiences, and ultimately, will go toward boosting Idaho’s economy.”
Upon its completion, this project will provide an alternate route for motorists and commercial traffic traveling past Twin Falls. According to ITD, in its current condition, the roadway is over capacity and, during peak hours, motorists encounter major congestion. This project calls for the expansion of the two-lane highway into four lanes, as well the construction of a four-lane bridge over Rock Creek Canyon. The existing dirt fill and culvert will be removed and the creek will be restored through the project area. Media Contact: Kay Lin Hermansen 801.809.9908 khermansen@wwclyde.net |
