Supporting Junior Achievement USA

Junior Achievement

Clyde Companies is a proud sponsor of one of the newest and most exciting additions to Utah County – the new JA City to be housed in Orem’s University Place Mall.

JA City is the Junior Achievement organization’s live interactive learning experience that teaches students in fifth and eighth grade about entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness. Currently the closest JA City is located in Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum in Salt Lake City, but with this new installment in Orem, students from Utah County can also learn 21st century skills that include critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, problem solving, and communication.

When the facility opens it will serve an additional 19,000 students, and between the two JA Cities, the program will impact close to two-thirds of all Utah fifth graders. In the day-long interactive program, students operate banks, manage restaurants, vote for JA City mayor, develop working budgets, and manage business and personal finances. The program’s reputation precedes itself, and with a wait list of over 100 schools, thousands of students eagerly anticipate their turn to participate.

Clyde Companies has donated $100,000 to the building of the new JA City, and plans to set up a storefront at the new location in University Mall, allowing students to learn about the construction industry as part of the curriculum.  With the motto of Building a Better Community, Clyde Companies is excited for that overarching theme to influence the student’s experience and outlook as they prepare for their futures as leaders in the community.
